Movies and TV shape our lives, especially today with multi-channel TV, DVD, and the Internet. But we still read books – in vast numbers. Books give us something more. Usually it's greater story depth or a better understanding of the characters. Even if we're reading a fast-action thriller, as opposed to a deep and meaningful literary novel, we can get inside the characters' heads.
